Yesterday I was contacted by someone who wanted to know if there was a way to “make money fast.” The answer is “no.” Get-rich-quick schemes are just that. They’re schemes.
If you need a substantial amount of money, it will take some time, brain power and a lot of work. You’ll need to find a way to save more money or just get another job. You know the rap.
But there are plenty of easy ways to make money… the earnings just reflect the fact that it’s easy. You just won’t get rich trying out anything below, but a little extra money for a pizza doesn’t hurt.
Earn Interest
Empty your bank account and put the money into an online savings account. You can make a good 3-4% interest with a high-interest savings account. That’s free money. If you’re using a savings account with a lower interest rate, then browse around for another bank. HSBC offers a rate 7x higher than the national average.
Get Cash Back
If you use credit cards, make sure to get a credit card that offers cash back. Some companies offer up to 5% cash back. If you make your payments on time, you can make a few hundred this way. It might sound odd, but check your junk mail. A lot of those offers are actually legitimate. Just remember to read the fine print.
Start a Blog
This is one of the few methods listed here that can actually end up becoming a full-time income. Coincidentally, this is what I’ve done with this website.
Think of a topic that you are passionate about. The topic needs to be something that you can literally talk and talk for days about.
Now get a hosting account (should cost you less than $20 or so) for the site. Start writing. Have a blast. Tell other people who are also blogging about your topic that you’ve started your blog. If you know your stuff, they might be glad to tell their readers.
Once you get some readers, get an Adsense.com account, and find some other ways to monetize your site…this is the easiest part. Worst case scenario, you make a couple of hundred extra bucks a year. It’s basically impossible to not make money with a blog if you actually work at it. It costs about $70-80, but you’ll pay it off in two months if you make just a dollar a day.
