Was it a judge who ruled that the Law of Gravity exists? Was it a congressperson who invented the automobile? Was it a president who built the first skyscraper? Was it a king who unveiled the existence of other galaxies? Will cancer be cured in a committee hearing? Will a “global summit” discover how to solve pollution?
No. It’s not through government that our advances are made. It’s not through government that economic strength is found. It’s not through laws that we find material comfort. It’s only through the actions of heroic inventors, scientists and honest businessman that civilization can even function.
Not understanding the nature of the advances of civilization will destroy us. Our only chance is found in a return to economic and scientific liberty. There is no other option.
Rome Will Burn
Government is not a creative force; government is a destructive power. The state exists for the sole purpose of passing and enforcing laws. The purpose of these laws are not primarily statements by society; the purpose of these laws are restrictions on individuals. The essence of government is in prisons; the foundation of the state is in force. Politics is a game of coercion, manipulation, restriction, chains and enforcement.
Now that we do not realize this — now that we see any problem as something that must be “cured” by a government “invented” policy that will provide the “solution” — our economy and civilization are doomed. Yes, doomed. I’m not being melodramatic — “doomed” is a very fitting word.
We’re trying to create wealth by taxing those who are wealthy.
We’re trying to stimulate economic growth with economic restriction.
We’re punishing good business by propping up bad businesses.
Remember: It was Caesar who burned Rome. Now Rome is going to burn again.
It might burn slowly, and some might even contest that it’s burning at all. Our leaders might paint it as some great unavoidable catastrophe, brought onto us by productive “greedy” individuals — all of them will be lumped together, rather than focusing exclusively on the irrational and short-sided.
Our leaders will teach us to hate, to blame and to socially murder all leaders of business and commerce. This is unavoidable. It’s already happening.
The Artificial “Business” Leaders
Of course, not all of those who claim the title “businessman” will be shunned or restricted. In the future, as in the present, some will be invigorated, strengthened and encouraged. The laws will favor them, boost them up, and make them “fail proof.” But they won’t be real businessmen — they’ll be propped up puppets, playing a very important part of the play we call politics.
They’ll be CEOs-for-hire without emotional ties to their companies, meaning they’ll let the government restrict them without “making a fuss.”
They’ll be willing to spend their money on lobbyists, playing this national economic game. They will be given billions of dollars, transfered from the small business leaders and creators.
They’ll be boosted up for the world to see, so that their mindless living will be envied and hated by the masses. This is the picture of “business” that the world will see, and the world will hate business for it. The world will hate all business for it.
They’ll be propped up so the world can see the millionaires on their knees in their fancy suits, begging to lick up the crumbs that the politicians will throw to them. During this time, Big Media will make millions as their ratings skyrocket. The media, the politicians, the CEOs who have no real business merit — they’re all playing part of a huge play, each with his own part.
So, yes — Rome will burn.
Where Will You Be?
But even after the city is raised, some will be waiting for the opportunity. Some will be watching from the sidelines, preparing to step in and take over the ghettos, the empty factories, the foreclosed homes, the burned out city blocks.
Someone must own the rubble. The houses, land, buildings, oil, gold, lumber, vehicles and other things are not going to vanish. They’re just going to switch hands. If you position yourself correctly, you can be on the receiving end.
Before economic catastrophe hits, you must have a large degree of financial security. You need wealth that can hold its value. You need to be able to know that, regardless of what happens, you and your family will be just fine.
This is just part one of a two part series on this topic. The next article that will be published here will present “The Case for Financial Security.” If you haven’t already done so, subscribe by entering your email below so you can learn how to be on the receiving end.
