The John Galt WordPress Theme is a professional, 3-columned, search-engine optimized Wordpress theme with an emphasis on usability. The theme is supported by Learn Financial Planning, both above and beyond it’s current 1.1 release. This means it’s just going to get awesomer with time.

The theme was inspired by the Copyblogger Theme. The theme is named after the character of John Galt from the epic novel Atlas Shrugged. Who is John Galt?

Features

At the end of every post and page two essential elements are found. First are the “related posts” section, that links to posts and pages just like what your readers have just read. If they liked what they saw they’ll probably start browsing, looking for more articles. You’ll increase your pageviews and subscribers.

Also found to the immediate right of the related posts are the social media submissions. Allowing one-click submissions to Digg, StumbleUpon, Delicious and Facebook encourages your visitors to explode your traffic, leading to more traffic than ever before. For an example of these two features, just look below.

The John Galt Theme focuses on allowing you to easily customize the theme. You can edit your About Me box found on the top right sidebar, ad your footer information and more — all without having to actually look at the coding. We’ll provide you an easy-to-use admin panel to achieve this.

Customization (Widgets)

The John Galt theme includes 5 main widget areas.

The left sidebar is ideal for link lists but any widget can be added to the space.

The “Home Announcement” is an area exclusive to the homepage. At LearnFinancialPlanning we’re using the Quote Rotator plugin.

The right sidebar includes 4 widget areas, two of which are perfect for ad placement. At the peak of the right sidebar is the “About Me” section. The About section is configured through the theme options under Design > John Galt Theme Options, described above.

Directly under the about section is the first widget “Right Sidebar Top”.

The Middle Left and Middle Right sections are designed to be two narrow columns ( < 125px each), great for ads (shown in red below).

The “Right Sidebar – Bottom” is the last, you can only guess where that will be.
